Birth Rites Collection: Artistic Responses to Preterm Birth BOOK NOW

Join us for an intensive morning of study, art, and discussion exploring the complex realities of pre-term birth, as part of the Birth Rites Collection Summer School. This focused morning brings together leading voices in contemporary art, classical music, poetry and obstetrics to open up multi-disciplinary dialogue around the subject of pre-term birth—its clinical, emotional, and cultural dimensions.

The morning includes:

  • Helen Knowles will present an overview to the new commisions for the BRC which have been made in collaboration with Tommy’s Preterm Birth Research Project (led by Professor Catherine Williamson, Consultant Obstetrician), and Imperial College London.

  • Artist talks by Hannah Conway and Anna Perach

  • A special poetry performance by acclaimed Jamaican-British poet Courtney Conrad of her new commissioned works.

  • A concluding panel discussion between artists and Professor Catherine Williamson, examining the intersection of art, research, and lived experience in the context of pre-term birth.
