The Only One

Aria

The Only One was written by composer Hannah Conway and writer Hazel Gould after 16 hours of research and interviews with patients and staff in pre-term birth clinics at Elizabeth Garett Anderson Wing, University College Hospital London. The aria is sung by a fictional patient. It explores experiences of internal vaginal ultrasound scans for the purpose of cervical measurement and assessment of pre-term birth assessment risk. 

The composition will be the prelude to a training video for midwives learning internal vaginal ultrasound scanning which will be released in mid-2026.
